Early winter in the Pocatello area was chilly but dry. Early skiing wasn't happening but the high pressure, sun and relatively low winds resulted in excellent climbing at Massacre Rocks. The chocolate brown rock creates a warm micro environment next to the cliffs on sunny days even if the temps are in the 30's. The collection of cliffs between All American and South of the Border have the highest concentration of excellent stone for climbing, solar collector brown rock, and perfect aspect for sun and low wind. This gallery represents 3 of several trips to Massacre between Thanksgiving and the New Year holidays.
